Scenes from the pit :)
The scene before surgery.
It’s only a flesh wound.
Actually we were yet again thankful the bone didn’t break the skin. You can see just how close it was. She even had a blister form where the bone was pressing against the skin. That was a nice surprise. Nothing like pulling off the wrap to find a big scab on your arm.
After surgery.
Our great doc put our sweet Humpty Dumpty back together again.
After several minutes of some tough pain and lots of tears, here’s the reward.
One of the pins was next to a nerve, so the extraction was a bit worse than promised.
Thanks goodness for a terrific Children’s Hospital staff that has walked this road many times before.
“We here to help you, not to hurt you.”
They hated the tears as much as I did.
That’s the same bone as picture 1.
Hard to believe.
Boy are we thankful.
It has been a long road for all of us.
What can be better than a tiny taste of heaven falling asleep on your shoulder. Nothing like feeling the little guy sink into full relaxation and begin heavy breathing.
Ahhh… if only every afternoon were as peaceful.
All with his Sister Save-A-Lot watching on, relieved that the worst is over, determined to “never jump on a trampoline again!” We’ll get her back on there … with the new hard and fast rule of no double bouncing.
Thanks for walking the road with me.

A housekeeping note:
Thanks for the Ironing Board questions (you guys are welcome to send any parenting questions this way and I’ll forward them to our wise gals that have gone before us). I’ve got them in the loop and will post soon.
